The ‘Waffly Versatile’ Jingle
The original ‘Waffly Versatle’ jingle accompanied many iconic Birds Eye Potato Waffle adverts in the 1980s. There were a number of different versions reflecting popular dishes of the day and the tune and lyrics have endued in the memory of the Irish population for over 30 years. The theme was later adapted for a TV campaign for Birds Eye Breakfast Waffles in 2016.

The new 2018 ‘Waffly Versatile’ lyrics were penned by Pete Johnson, a Birds Eye marketing manager, who wanted to reveal modern waffle topping ideas to a new generation. Pete Johnson is also the voice on the 2018 Waffly Versatile jingle recording, accompanied by Brett Harris, a creative guitarist and songwriter from the duo ‘Mobius Effect’. It was important to retain catchy excellence of the original song so the London recording in January 2018 included a song whistle and guitar tapping.
